Saint-Gobain Glass Romania plans to launch new facility for production of special glass for windshields in the company’s factory in Calarasi. The new investment was released by the General Manager of Saint-Gobain Glass Romania, Norbert Teschner. The project will create new 130 jobs in the region and will have capacity for 500,000 windshields per year. The amount of the investment is not disclosed, but production is scheduled to start in 2018. The French glass producer expects to receive further support from the local authorities and seek for future investment from the State.
“For 2018 we plan the inauguration of a new production of special glass for windshields. The new line will have a capacity of 500,000 windshields per year. Also on this occasion we employ an additional 130 people. We find in Calarasi workforce, employees will benefit from training programs in our factories in Europe. Regarding specialists, mainly engineers, they can be recruited from other areas in Romania”, said the General Manager of Saint-Gobain Glass Romania, Norbert Teschner. “We have customers in the automotive field and we have demand from them. The decision is not yet signed. In early 2017 we will know for sure”, added he.
Saint-Gobain Glass Romania made investments of 180 million EUR during the 10 years of activity, including investment of 135 million EUR for the development of float glass line to be inaugurated in 2008 and investment of 35 million EUR in metal coating line.
