The tech giant Microsoft reported strong growth of the division for cloud services. This success has contributed significantly to the overall performance of the corporation, which managed to finish with profit the second quarter.
The company reported a profit of $ 3.1 billion for the months between April and June. For comparison a year earlier, Microsoft was with a loss of 3.2 billion dollars after it wrote off part of the value of the acquired mobile phone manufacturer Nokia.
After the announcement of the results, shares of the company went up and ended with a growth of 4% on the New York Stock Exchange, writes BBC.
The strong result was not expected by the investors but still, they had high expectations of the cloud services, united under the umbrella of the subsidiary company Azure. Its revenue rose by 7 percent to $ 6.7 billion.
Some time ago, Microsoft’s CEO Satya Nadella said that the corporation will focus on cloud services because of the decline in sales of personal computers.
“Today, we live in a mobile-first, cloud-first world, and the transformation we are driving across our businesses is designed to enable Microsoft and our customers to thrive in this world,” he said as part of his comment on the subject.
